Applications for the Roane County Virtual School program are now open until January 9th, 2024 at 4PM. Virtual classes are scheduled to commence on January 10th, 2024.
To enroll your student in the Roane County Virtual School program, please complete the application form linked below.
Important Reminder: If students are currently attending in-person classes, they must continue to do so until the official switch to virtual learning on January 10, 2024. Any absences during this period will still be counted against the student until they transition to virtual schooling.
Families can expect to receive an email to their student's Office Outlook account stating whether their child has been approved for virtual schooling.

Construction of the new Spencer Middle School is entering the home stretch with its side parking and roadway taking shape in recent weeks. More work will be done over the holiday breaks to bring the expanded bus loop and front parking lot into shape.
Roane County teachers worked with K-5 Literacy Coach Amie Burkholder of Learning Edventures today as we continue to learn more about how the science of reading can help improve literacy instruction.

It's that time of year again - the Board of Education is going on the road to visit each school and meet with its Local School Improvement Council.
The Board will also hold public forums at Walton, Spencer Middle, and Geary after these BOE / LSIC meetings.

ICYMI - Roane County Students Most Improved in WV
Earlier this week, the West Virginia Department of Education released the results of the 2022-23 statewide assessments and Roane County students posted the biggest combined improvement in English language arts and Mathematics of any district in the state!
Roane students increased mastery in ELA by 6.14% and in Math by 5.01%. They also outperformed students at both public charter schools available to Roane County residents.

Students in grades K through 12th can enroll full-time in the Roane County Virtual School. You need not be a Roane County resident to enroll.
Students must have earned a 2.0 GPA or higher and not miss more than 5 unexcused absences in the previous school year.
Applications are due by 4 pm on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
